Note that facsimiles or images of texts are still of the genre Text."],["elementContainer",["element",{"elementId":"1"},["name","Text"],["description","Any textual data included in the document"],["elementTextContainer",["elementText",{"elementTextId":"8361"},["text","Bem manifestamente se fez sentir a influência nefasta dos falsos sabedores quando se tratou de combater (há quarenta anos) o oidium tuckery por meio de pulverizações de enxofre.\r\nAs terríveis desilusões dos que se deixaram induzir pelas informações dos maus conselheiros e o confronto com os resultados obtidos pelos mais ousados, pelos mais crentes – tudo isso foi suficiente para que o uso de enxofre se generalizasse, salvando-se as uvas tratadas, lastimando-se só que se tivessem perdido anteriormente tão avultadas colheitas, que, em grande parte, poderiam ter sido poupadas!\r\nAquele exemplo, esquecido talvez pelo afastamento de mais de trinta anos, não aproveitou quando em 1883 se tratava de desenvolver o combate contra a filoxera, empregando como curativo o sulfureto de carbone e como preventivo as cepas americanas.\r\nApesar de ser a recomendação do uso do sulfureto de carbone o resultado da observação nos países filoxerados e em Portugal (dadas as necessárias condições de composição e de estado físico do solo), não se acreditava geralmente na eficácia do poderoso inseticida, mas em compensação aceitava-se gostosamente muita receita, por mais extravagante que fosse a composição do misto, por mais inofensivos que fosse os seus elementos componentes.\r\nMuitas vinhas, formadas por cepas indígenas, se plantaram ainda nos últimos anos nas regiões já atacadas, o que demonstra a falta de confiança naquilo que os competentes recomendavam como elemento de segurança. \r\nO que não é condenável é que nas regiões consideradas indemnes, onde não era permitido o ingresso de bacelos americanos, se continuasse a planta vinhas formadas por cepas indígenas.\r\nEra expressamente contra a lei o uso de bacelos americanos.\r\nAinda com relação ao tratamento do míldio repete-se o mesmo sentimento de incredulidade. Continuam os estudos e informaremos os nossos leitores; podemos, porém, dizer, desde já, é que a doença é grave e pode destruir completamente uma colheita. \r\nA cultura está exigindo muito cuidado e muito dinheiro para se colher uva com proveito, e precisa que os governos tomem sobre ela a devida atenção. \r\n\r\nA enxertia da rupestris\r\nQueixam-se muitos viticultores do falhar muito a enxertia na rupestres e explica-se este defeito pela abundância da seiva e sua concentração na ocasião da enxertia, e pela abundância de rebentos que lançam os troncos. \r\nHá meios que se empregam para remediar este inconveniente. Vamos dar deles noticia. \r\nContra a acumulação de seiva sobre o garfo recomenda-se cortar o cavalo com 8 dias de antecipação. Depois enxerta-se pela forma ordinária, e diz-se que se tira bom resultado. Mesmo com o corte efectuado 2 dias antes da enxertia se tira algum bom efeito. \r\n \r\nContra o lançamento dos ladrões e novos rebentos descava-se a cepa, decepa-se à altura do solo, e esfrega-se com a mão para destruir os 19 gérmenes de toda a vegetação. Um outro operário segue atrás, e pinta o tronco descoberto com uma solução de acido sulfúrico (3 %). Com este tratamento assevera-se que se tiram bons resultados. Os resultados de enxertos pegados aproximam-se dos obtidos com as riparias, de 90 a 96 %. \r\nUma nova planta \r\nChama-se híbrido Frac uma nova planta obtida por M. Franc, que desde 1886 se diz resistir a todas as doenças criptogâmicas; muito vigorosa e produtiva, vegetando em terrenos pobres, pedregosos e calcários, e dando um vinho de boa qualidade e bela tinta. Vegeta bem no Cher, onde tem sido propagada pelos viticultores, por ser de uma vegetação luxuriante, e livre de desavinho. Vinga todos os cachos, que são de tamanho variável e muito abundantes e de maturação mais precoce que tardia. \r\nDá um vinho muito tinto, bom gosto, com 10 a 11 graus de álcool. Não tem sido atacada de qualquer doença criptogâmica e, rodeada de vinhas filoxeradas, resiste, tendo forte vegetação em terrenos de calcário seco, pedregosos, contendo 40 a 50 % de carbonato de cal. \r\nÉ uma cepa muito rústica, produz bem; e pega bem de estaca.
