Raspam-se ou redram-se as vinhas em que a terra ficou bastante levantada ou em que a existência da erva prejudica a vegetação. Pratica-se ainda a poda verde, livrando as cepas dos rebentos ladrões que são inúteis e que só prejudicam a formação e desenvolvimento dos necessários às futuras colheitas. Despontam-se os lançamentos que apresentarem urna excessiva vegetação para regularidade das varas da poda do ano seguinte, bem como os cachos sujeitos a abortarem nas castas propensas ao desavinho.
